The Digital Asset Perpetuity Project is focused on a Perpetuity Event that affects every Eth holder and the entire Ethereum ecosystem. This event is the subject of my Ethereum Fellowship project. My project will focus on the answer to the questions: "What happens to your Eth when you die?" and "How does Eth transfer when the Eth holder is unable to provide transfer and access credentials?"
To address the Ethereum perpetuity problem, I will develop an international framework of the laws that impact the transfer of digital assets after the holder's death and build a body of knowledge. I will also engage with subject matter experts who have perspectives on the subject, including project developers, academics, lawmakers and regulators.
We will create an open source body of knowledge, a voice, and a roadmap, to work toward a solution to this problem that threatens the perpetuity of Ethereum and all digital assets. There are some old and complex laws surrounding the transfer of assets after the death of the holder, and it will be vital that we advocate for law reform with a solid understanding of how the process works today and how it can be improved.
